Internships

SHC Washington Office Offers Internships for Those Seeking Career Advancement

Strategic Health Care (SHC) offers internship opportunities for college students and recent graduates with an interest in gaining hands-on experience in health care consulting that will help prepare them for full-time employment in this or a related profession.  As examples, former SHC interns have moved on to positions at the Institute of Medicine, graduate work at Johns Hopkins, Yale, and Rutgers Law, as well as the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.

SHC interns research health policy, law, and legislation, attend congressional hearings and events, provide summaries on various legislative initiatives, and assist with administrative support and marketing.

SHC interns support a bipartisan team of seasoned professionals working on health care policy and actively engaged in the federal debate on health care reform.  These professionals’ backgrounds include health care advocacy, staff posts on Capitol Hill, and positions with both Republican and Democratic presidents.

SHC’s client base focuses on health care providers and patients – hospitals, health care systems, groups of health care providers and trade associations, and patient advocacy groups.

SHC offers internships year-round and encourages applications from students and professionals from a variety of educational backgrounds such as political science, public policy, law, and public health.  Interns  from the Semester in Washington, PLEN, and other internship programs are welcome to apply.
